rhi: Matthew, looking over his sunglasses, wearing a Santa hat (Midwinter Matthew)
Like writing more (although I've added words to four different stories I'm currently working on, and posted a due South fic). Or writing up a Friday fic post to close tabs. Or updating the Matthew, Rebecca, and Sean lists. Or cleaning up the house so I can get back on track with daily workouts Monday.

Nope. I'll just be over here playing silly computer games. Clearly, I'm on strike.

It was cool and grey and foggy here this morning, so what the heck, I'm in the Halloween mood. Here, have a link to a free online game: All We Need Is Brain. Trick the zombies into killing themselves or walking onto a shooting range. Enjoy!
rhi: Light around the edges of the moon. Total eclipse. (black eclipse)
Hence the black hole icon on the post.  Well, okay, it's a total solar eclipse, but work with me here!  Two 'giggle yourself silly' links:

The game of "Just a Minute' at this year's World Con (and a hat tip to [personal profile] marthawells for first linking it where I could see it!)

&

Alternate Histories:  old maps, posters, woodcuts, and portraits with monsters added.  Don't forget to enlarge the images and read the gleefully insane 'history' of the items.

Enjoy!
rhi: A candle-lit labyrinth with a person just entering. (Default)
...of books by an author I haven't read before.  I have Merrivale, March, and Murder by John Dickson Carr and I'm having a lovely time with both his writing and his characters.  So nice to find someone I like who has a large backlist!  Next up will be the Merrivale novels, clearly.  The man's fun.

More randomly, I know I've been playing too much Plants vs. Zombies when I can think the terms 'produce armaments' and 'veggies of mass destruction' and they're appropriate to the situation.  Thanks, [personal profile] vivwiley !  That game's way too much fun.  (Sorry, [personal profile] ciceqi !)

Done, done, done, and ARRGH! on the last puzzle, but still, done, done, done! WHEEE!

Off to pack since I'm only moving 450 miles in 7.5 days.... bye!

Cut to save friends' pages, but the grateful acknowledgement of help is here )

Okay. Now I'm off to pack.
rhi: Alex Krycek and a faint smile -- dangerous. (Krycek)
Woke up, got shower and breakfast. I think leaving the tea downstairs was a mistake. Or maybe I was browsing the wrong website and strained my eyes, or I've been beating on the damn Puzzle Donkey too long. Dunno. Got a headache out of nowhere about half twelve, so bad it hurt to have my eyes open. Dragon rubbed my scalp 'til I fell asleep -- for two hours. Didn't so much as twitch, apparently. Woke up, took two Excedrin. Chatted with Alyss and tarsh for a while, then got dinner, and coffee, and played Scrabble at the B&N. Dragon got a 68 point word, the wretch. (Well, when you get a Q on the triple letter square and run the rest of the word over a double word score....) ::smug gryph:: I still beat him. By a grand 10 points, but wow was I behind for a good while!

And we've packed up most of the books -- left out the favorite authors we reread and all the books in the office -- and the home-taped videos. This is getting interesting, to say the least. Should hear final figures on the job sometime in the next couple days and then life gets fun. Hunting for a place in Nashville will be exhausting, I don't doubt. Telling the contract service in Memphis that this is two weeks notice... well, they've been quite decent to us. Telling the company here 'In two weeks, we're outta here!' well, that will be a joy. They've been right bastards from the get-go.

Meantime, I'm going to skip the gym tomorrow. This afternoon sounded like my body telling me to get more sleep. I'll go Tuesday, see how I do, and decide if I'm going twice this week or just once. Tomorrow's a good day to back up my computer to CD, and maybe do some housework, or start organizing to pack. ::laughing:: Hell, maybe even try to finish a fic or two to post e'er we move. I've got two for Halloween if I could just finish them!

Anyway. Anyone who's used both Windows ME and Windows XP and can give me opinions on system stability, ease of use, etc, could you please drop me a note? I'm debating upgrading my system but want more data from which to decide whether to spend the money. Thanks!!

Yay, us!

Have made it to 5.7 on Puzzle Donkey! !3 to go!

Jen, did you quit working on this, or did you want a hint on 5.6?

My journal says I'm male.
What does your LJ writing style say about your gender?

I'm quite certain that [livejournal.com profile] jcbdragon, [livejournal.com profile] wenchita, [livejournal.com profile] tarshaan, [livejournal.com profile] irishkate, [livejournal.com profile] unmisha and any number of others are highly startled to hear this.

In the meantime, can *anyone* help with Puzzle Donkey 2.18? Bad puns about teddy bears, and bearing teddies, are running rampant. So to speak. HELP!!!

ETA: Got 2.18, got 2.19, now working my way through 2.20

You must have been warned against letting the golden hours slip by ... some of them are golden only because we let them slip by. - James Matthew Barrie,

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who only dream by night. - Edgar Allen Poe

I often warn people: Somewhere along the way, someone is going to tell you, 'There is no "I" in team.' What you should tell them is, 'Maybe not. But there is an "I" in independence, individuality and integrity.' - George Carlin
