rhi: A ruined temple of Poseidon in Greece (night temple)
...because I did the Johari meme. Please, go here and fill in a few adjectives that describe how *you* see me. I always have liked looking at different sides of things, but it's awfully hard to see yourself in the back without mirrors. Thanks!

Ah, yes, the stuff I wear maybe once a year. Getting passport photos made tonight, and I'm just vain enough to want to look good for them. (It's only going to be a photo ID for the next ten years, after all.) Dragon, thank Gods, prefers that I *not* wear the stuff. So I never really get used to it. It just feels so odd to see myself in make-up. Like being back in high school or something, especially since I went back to blond hair for the summer. Of course, going by a mirror and seeing how much bigger my eyes look behind my glasses with mascara, and eye liner, and shadow startles me into widening my eyes which only makes it worse...

::snickering:: Wait. Wide eyes and pale skin and long fair hair? Someone help, I've wandered into an anime....

Boring mundane entry -- feel free to ignore it. )

So I'm wandering around journal entries rather than go to the gym (yeah, I know, bad gryph, I'm going as soon as I finish this, honest) and I find an IQ test at a LJ entry for a friend of a friend. It's here.

And this thing... Start out going, 'no problem.' Cuss my way through the last six of twenty wondering if my walls are up to having my head beat them so hard, although, don't get me wrong, figuring it out was fun!! Get to the end, though, get my score, and cuss some more. Why? Because I'm only three points off extraordinary and I'm wondering where I missed those three points. Bad gryph. Bad. Self-image attached to intellect, much? Off to the gym, now, to see how the pleurisy is healing and work on other images.

But... it was kinda fun. (Okay, I lied. It was a lot of fun, muttering under my breath at the screen and not even noticing the usual muses about.) All right, some of the spatial relations and patterns did make my head hurt trying to figure out what the testers were doing, but still. Oh. And if you know Futhark? Try to keep in mind that this test is not being conducted in words.

Have no idea how this matches earlier IQ tests I've taken, but since no one would ever give me those scores? I don't think I'll fret over it. Have fun if you take it, and let me know how it measures up with other results if you've gotten 'em? Because I am a little curious. Thanks!

Oh. For others of the curious persuasion? The test measured Spearman's g factor, or general factor, which is hypothesized to be common to all intellectual activity, using abstract activity in an attempt not to be influenced by things like reading or cultural background. I scored 147.

"Scores of 130 and above mean that according to this test, you are absolutely brilliant.

"You scored very high on this test. This indicates that your intellectual potential is significantly above average. If this outstanding ability is not reflected in your real life, you may want to consider examining other possible reasons as to why you might not be reaching your full potential (such as motivation, lack of stimulation, lack of ambitions, low self esteem etc.)."

And I still wonder where I missed those three points.

I often warn people: Somewhere along the way, someone is going to tell you, 'There is no "I" in team.' What you should tell them is, 'Maybe not. But there is an "I" in independence, individuality and integrity.' - George Carlin
