Character meme
Jan. 13th, 2011 10:57 amAs seen here and there on my friendslist, and now that my headache's gone:
Pick a character and I will give and explain the top three to five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.
Until then, back to writing. (Also? I'm in the South. I do like winter, but wow, the last couple have been 'interesting.' If it's gonna be this gorram cold, I want more snow with it!)
(Hey,
raine -- It's a miracle! I'm working on Depth of Field!)

Date: 2011-01-24 02:10 am (UTC)I was just trying to give you an out if you wanted a character that I think you've written at least a little more often. *grins again*
Dani St. Vir
Date: 2011-01-24 02:57 am (UTC)1. If LaCroix is next to the entry for 'paterfamilias,' Dani was next to the one for 'joie de vivre.' Optimistic, bouncy, energetic, and interested in everything until her health really fell apart.
2. She had that slightly skewed POV that a lot of artists do, including a tendency to notice odd, small details. She could be endlessly fascinated by dew on plants, icicles forming or dripping from eaves, the play of clouds in the sky, or a single askew feather on a bird. She liked working in one or two small, inconsequential-looking details into her tapestries... and frequently, finding them led you to the point of the art.
3. She liked Russell Nash for his cynical view, so different from her own, and the parallax it gave her view. She also liked him because he took no for an answer, and if he said he'd do something, he damn well would. She liked Fitz for his flirting, for that matter, and Damien for the perpetual simmer of his temper. She thought both of those things required an interest in life.
4. Using the engagement ring from her ex-husband to fund her new life struck her as a perfect example of making lemonade with lemons. (Aidan leaned more towards poetic justice.)
5. Dani didn't date women to piss off her ex-husband, or her family -- but she did admit that was a nice side-effect.
